#PiperWai @PiperWai: Natural Deodorant Discovered thru @ABCSharkTank

When I was a young girl my mother insisted that I use a deodorant and not an antiperspirant. I was quite young, 10 years old, when I first needed to start using deodorant. We tried more natural solutions like milk of magnesia and baking soda with some lemon juice. But none of these worked. I tried regular over-the-counter deodorants and still did not find satisfaction with those products.
When I went to college I sought out antiperspirants. To my surprise they worked! I refused to accept the fact that antiperspirants actually had aluminum in them and that aluminum could actually cause any long term side effects. At that time, I cared that I didn’t smell.*

Fast forward to a few years ago. I had gone to an acupuncturist who recommended that I stop using antiperspirant as it was causing toxicity within my body. Although I had benefited from not being odorous, my body was not detoxifying itself and there in my armpit area was where I sweat the most. We have a set of lymph nodes there. The lymph system is where we take out our garbage, so to speak. We eliminate our toxins emotionally and physically through the lymph system. I had tried a couple years back prior to this appointment to use deodorant only, but found that living in hot, steamy Florida and constantly sweating created rashes and so I returned to antiperspirants to my dismay. When I shared this information with the practitioner, she calmly said, “Your body needs to detoxify.” I reluctantly switched. I started my search once again for a perfect deodorant. I thought I found one finally that was a roll-on of a salt rock crystal deodorant. It worked…mostly. I still encountered days that I sweat more and on those days I knew it wasn’t as effective as I needed.

I sweat during sessions as I run energy. I notice I get rather warm and often sweat under my arms, profusely. I had a client ask me for a hug in the middle of a session and I immediately apologized for my sweatiness as I hugged her. It displeased me that I couldn’t feel confident at that particular moment to feel perfectly comfortable as I was helping her to be more comfortable.

Then, within the last several months my husband and I were watching Shark Tank and saw a presentation on PiperWai an all natural deodorant that claimed to help with the absorption of sweat and also to be more than effective in fighting odor. With nothing to lose, I bought 2 jars.

I had tried other deodorants that had essential oils before, but didn’t seem to help with the absorption of sweat.

This deodorant is all natural, without any aluminum. I opened the jar and liked the smell which is neither masculine or feminine in scent. When I applied it to my underarms, I felt an immense cooling sensation. I have to say, it works. I notice it worked well in the cooler months with the sweat absorption but over the summer when it got warmer, the absorption factor isn’t as strong as I would like. The other thing I don’t like is that it is a paste. Closer to the end of the bottle, the paste gets rather flaky and becomes a task of trying to get the deodorant to go on smoothly without flaking all over the bathroom sink or floor. I recently viewed their Facebook page where they suggest a drop of witch hazel to regain original consistency.

I took a couple months off from using this product. Simply because I had run out of it and had other deodorants still in stock in my cabinet. After going back to my crystal salt deodorant it worked for two weeks. I was excited because I thought maybe my body had changed. But after those two weeks when I was excessively sweating, there was nothing at the end of the day leaving me confident Needless to say, I reordered my PiperWai deodorant and have now been using it again for a month and I’m quite pleased.

I know they are considering making it into a roll-on.  I don’t mind the paste. Unlike most pastes it does not have a sticky residue feel to it. Instead, it feels clean and smooth. At first glance the price seems steep, but depending on your usage a single jar should last anywhere from 2-4months. I  highly recommend this product to anyone, male or female with similar problems or looking for a healthier alternative.

Why Do We Need Energy Work?

Why do we need #energy work? Because we are all energetic beings and we all understand that we go through days where we have more energy and other days where we have barely any to get through. To me it just seems simple that we would all need energy work… an understood thing.
But as I have done more sessions and individuals process differently, I thought I would share what came to me in a session I did recently. It came to me in more layman terms so I am going to share just like that….
Let’s say you are preparing to move. Part of the mental process is to let go of your old space and prepare for the new one. Although it sounds pretty simple it’s not. Preparing for a move takes energy, which when in the process, can be rather draining because it’s one more thing to do on top of working, taking care of our family and ourselves. Whether it is a big or small move, moving takes time, preparation and organization.
When you are moving you have to decide what you are going to take with you and what you are going to discard or giveaway. Because you want your new place to feel like you…but better! So you pack everything that you want to take with you and you sort through and decide which items bit by bit are not coming with you. Usually, when moving, you are in the midst of a balancing act. First comes taking care of family then work and caring for yourself then moving, though not always in that perfect order. But moving nonetheless is happening whether it is in the forefront or in the background. It is stressful even if it might be to a bigger more beautiful home, it still is stress.
The same thing happens during my energy work sessions for my clients. The client has decided that they need and are ready to move forward however that may be for them in whatever life circumstance they are experiencing. It is an appointment that they make with #Divine and I am strictly the facilitator helping them let go of what they no longer need so that they can move forward being true to themselves and therefore feeling lighter. Essentially, they become the new home. They still have their basic traits and basic core of who they are, but without the unnecessary weightedness of and necessary burdens they have taken on throughout their life.
It is always amazing to be witness to someone else’s #transcendence. To see where they were and where they are now and for them to acknowledge how their perspectives change. Or they witness how their bodies change because they are processing life differently which is affecting them on a mental, emotional, spiritual and therefore physical level. More so, how alleviating them from their densities, they are now affecting their world positively and #enlightening others around them.
That is why we all need energy work. That is why I enjoy doing what I do.
Thank you @Oprah for your wonderful quote.

Ask and You Shall Recieve

Ask and You Shall Recieve

It is familiar phrase that we have often heard, “ask and you shall receive. “It is something that was stated in the Bible and has made its greatest impression upon me recently.

As a child, my parents often impressed upon me the importance of asking my teachers or anyone I was involved with for help. It was difficult for me as I was shy and sometimes it was that I didn’t want to seem as if I couldn’t do it myself.
Becoming a parent and having a child with special needs, has made me more comfortable asking for what I need and or reaching out to people and seeing if they can help me get what I need.
This simple phrase has truly facilitated my healing sessions with individuals. It sounds rather simple, yet we can all do it and ask for assistance from each other and/or from Divine.
I remember the first time I was asked to work on a cancer patient. He was a family member I had never met, who had been recently diagnosed with terminal cancer and was given just a couple months to live. It was a last resort for the family. He didn’t want to do any type of cancer treatment and so I was requested to do a session. He was up north, I was here in Florida. I asked permission from his soul to work on him and from God to facilitate his best and highest healing, to give him a quality life in his last days.
What transpired dumbfounded me. Not only was his life extended a couple more months so that he could resolve any family matters…he never went on any pain medications. Most importantly, he lived his last days comfortably.
I remember a client I got who wanted something specific worked on. This client had daymares that had transpired from nightmares and were all consuming her life during the day. She wanted to be rid of these daymares as they were causing near death incidences. I asked for permission to work on these specifically. I gave her the information of where they stemmed from, something from childhood that had been left unresolved. She had not been able to sleep throughout the night for quite some time and her driving was being impeded by these visions. After our session she slept throughout the night and her daymares completely ceased.
It is important that we all remember to “ask.” A massage therapist I recently worked on used this technique with one of her clients. She was trying to help her client release a chronic symptom, a shoulder that needed releasing. She had massaged this client several months and finally, while she was massaging her asked, “What would it take for her shoulder to release?” Low and behold, the shoulder moved perfectly into place and she and her client were relieved.
We are all connected. We can truly effect each other positively or negatively from near or far. When we ask and are in tune with what is in our best interest or that of someone else’s best interest, we really can receive. In receiving we are not selfish. In fact, we allow others to feel gratitude in being of assistance. We co-create a reciprocal relationship of positive give and take. In so doing, we create more positivity in the world.

Mysteries

Mysteries… They happen to us all the time if we choose to be aware. But how or why they happen is part of the wonder of mysteries. By definition, a mystery is “Something strange or not known that has not yet been explained or understood. Difficult to explain is difficult or impossible to understand or explain.” (1)

Lately I have been faced with a lot of amazement and wonder. I have an unconventional, unusual occupation. Typically, it means that I get to meet all different kinds of people from various walks of life who are searching for the same thing: healing. However, as much as someone can say that they are looking forward to healing, how the individual chooses to do so, varies from person to person. That is what tends to be the most mysterious and wondrous  part of my job.

Because individuals are just that, people who come from different cultures, home environments, educational, professional and religious backgrounds, how they process their healing is just as different.

Take for instance, I have a client that when he contacted me, originally didn’t believe in what I did, and was doing it to appease his spouse. I began the healing and noticed that when I shared what I was receiving intuitively regarding his medical condition, it caused heart palpitations. It took me learning that he was better off processing his own healing in whatever form that took, versus me sharing what was coming up as I was working on him.

I recently had a client that after three attempts of making an appointment and rescheduling, finally relinquished and fulfilled her appointment. It was a most cathartic healing for her as she quickly realized why she had resisted for so long. As she was on the massage table, she kept commenting on all the physical changes she was feeling and remarked how she was “blown away.”

And yet I had another healing session where the person could feel and see changes as the session was in process. However, the next day, couldn’t relax enough to take in the session just as it was intended. She had her own expectations of how it should be, so I needed to facilitate that “letting go” over the phone the next day. What is most mysterious to me is the information I get and how it varies for each individual. I help people let go of negative feelings, memories, and effects of abuse.

Most recently I had a session that left me mystified. A client called after seeing my brochure elsewhere and scheduled a session. I facilitated some major body work, some became very uncomfortable and as I was doing so I was sharing all the intuitive information I was receiving. A couple days later, she traveled out of state for a few weeks and had had back surgery while she was gone. Upon her return, she made another appointment. This time, I didn’t receive as much information. At the conclusion of the session, she remarked, “I remember that the last session, shortly after laying your hands on me you said ‘You feel broken in half.’ It’s stuck with me.” It turns out that her back surgery was a preventative and she had two steel rods put into her back to prevent her back from essentially, “being broken in half!” Needless to say, I was humbled.

What is wondrous is how the information I get varies by each individual.   How people emotionally process afterwards: some are much calmer and energized, some are emotional and others physically let go, each differs per person per session. It is always a mystery that will unfold as to how much lighter and happier that individual will be after their healing.

Building a Stronger Immune System

People with Down syndrome have compromised immune systems as a result of having the chromosomal structure that they do.(1) After Jack had open heart surgery at 5 months old, our pediatrician at the time recommended that we put Jack on a multivitamin with iron. After having experienced all that we had been through, having Jack survive and recover from open heart left us blinded and accepting all recommendations from physicians.

Being on the multivitamin with iron actually effected Jack and made him constipated. The addition of iron to his daily intake made it difficult for Jack to have easy bowel movements. Not only that, we noticed that he wasn’t any healthier to fight off viruses. We tried different multivitamin formulas with minerals, even though I was of the philosophy that, we should get our vitamins from our diet. Because of his immunodeficiency, I wanted to make sure that Jack was getting the best vitamin absorption. Traditionally, our bodies do not absorb vitamins that are in pill form as we would in powder or liquid form. (2) We absorb 90-98% of vitamins in liquid or powder form, compared to the 3-25% from pill form.

Not only did constipation result from vitamin supplementation, we soon noticed that Jack’s skin on his elbows and knees demonstrated eczema type symptoms and once we discontinued any vitamin supplementation, these symptoms dissipated.

Our insurance for Jack changed and therefore caused us to have to seek out a new pediatrician. In doing so, what we had taken for granted as being prudent recommendations, our new physician made us more aware, enlightened. For example, it had been recommended to us that we put Jack on Miralax, also known as polyethylene glycol, for his constipation at a year old. When we asked what the side effects were, we were told simply, “none.”

Our new pediatrician, although she also wrote us a prescription for the Miralax, soon said to us, “You need to get him off of that.” It wasn’t that she said it, but how she said it that made me wonder why she would have a different recommendation. So of course, I did a web search. What I found astounded me:

“In 2008, the FDA tested eight batches of Miralax because ‘many of the reported adverse events were classic symptoms of ethylene glycol ingestion.’ Ethylene glycol (EG) and diethylene glycol (DEG) are ingredients in antifreeze so, in other words, the government tested the laxative after receiving reports of children exhibiting symptoms of antifreeze poisoning following their use.” (3)

Appalled and wanting a more homeopathic solution, I again visited our chiropractor who happened to have a blend of Chinese herbs mixed in easy to take gel capsule form from Dr. Chi called OxiPower. It actually took a couple days, but it helped Jack go to the bathroom much easier.

Our solution became a mixture of essential oils, Chinese herbs, and energy work.

Quite simply, the mixture of these has kept us from visiting the doctor’s office frequently. In fact, Jack’s constipation issues resolved. His times of being sick, not only shortened in duration, but also got less exacerbated. He now recovers from being sick quite quickly.

Basil Combats Cold and Flu Symptoms

It’s flu season, and we all have to do all we can to remain healthy. My husband and I choose not to get vaccinated or to vaccinate our son. It’s our choice, and choose that because by the time that the flu vaccine is administered to us, it may or may not be made of the strain that is affecting the U.S. and is made with thimerosal, a Mercury based derivative.
When I first heard of Basil essential oil I didn’t quite understand the attraction anyonewould have to using it. Every time I thought of it all I associated it with was a good Italian sauce, marinara etc.

“There are many benefits of basil essential oil (including the improvement in the following conditions): (1)

  1.  acne                       5. colds                                   9. increase alertness                       13. indigestion
  2.  anxiety                   6. improve digestion               10. fatigue                                        14. sinusitus
  3.  enhance mood       7. coughs                                11. gout
  4. bronchitis colds       8. depression                         12.   soothe muscle aches

Within the last two weeks both my son and I have needed basil essential oils for different reasons. I happen to be quite sensitive around this time of year due to red tide. It doesn’t matter if it is not directly in our county, it matters that it is around us and I go into respiratory distress, especially at night. I had the most difficult time breathing the other night and needed help. I asked my lovely husband to rub carrier oil with a couple drops of basil essential oil on my back in the lung area and within minutes we both noticed a difference. I was breathing clearer and he even commented on how the scent forces you to breathe! I was able to fall asleep and breathe easily through the night.

Our son came home from school run down and ended up going to bed early. He awoke in the middle of the night and after hearing his raspy voice and raspy breathing, I immediately grabbed the basil essential oil. I rubbed it on his throat that was hurting, his back, chest and feet. Because he was having difficulty falling asleep again I rubbed Frankincense essential oil down his spine(think central nervous system) and within minutes not only was he breathing easily, he had fallen asleep. When he awoke in the morning, no one would have known that he had respiratory distress just 4 hours earlier! When asked, he said his throat no longer hurt. I happened to speak with his teacher the next day, who was so impressed on commented how much work he got out of Jack due to his alertness and calmness.
A year and a half ago, Jack was suffering from recurrent ear infections, three almost back to back. It was recommended to us, by someone selling essential oils, to put basil and melaleuca (tea tree oil) on a cotton ball and insert into our son’s ear. At that time, I didn’t have basil essential oil readily available and fortunately, and since then, Jack has not had another ear infection so we have not had the need to try the effectiveness of this solution.

As impressive and effective as basil essential oil proved to be in alleviating our respiratory symptoms, we did use another oil in conjunction: oregano oil. (That will be its own post on its benefits.) The dual combination definitely knocked out all that we were going through.

Please note, that just like any medicine, more is not better when using any essential oil. Although essential oils are homeopathic they are extremely powerful and concentrated. They are potent and definitely need to be diluted with a carrier oil like jojoba, grapeseed, etc. when used. Not all essential oils are made equally, so please select your oils carefully. If you happen to have a reaction, which may occur depending on your sensitivity and oil being used, please do not rinse with soap and water, instead dilute area with more carrier oil. Doug, Jack nor I take any prescription medications. If you do, please speak with your healthcare professional and discuss any possible interactions and possible side effects of mixing the two.
