Mysteries

Mysteries… They happen to us all the time if we choose to be aware. But how or why they happen is part of the wonder of mysteries. By definition, a mystery is “Something strange or not known that has not yet been explained or understood. Difficult to explain is difficult or impossible to understand or explain.” (1)

Lately I have been faced with a lot of amazement and wonder. I have an unconventional, unusual occupation. Typically, it means that I get to meet all different kinds of people from various walks of life who are searching for the same thing: healing. However, as much as someone can say that they are looking forward to healing, how the individual chooses to do so, varies from person to person. That is what tends to be the most mysterious and wondrous  part of my job.

Because individuals are just that, people who come from different cultures, home environments, educational, professional and religious backgrounds, how they process their healing is just as different.

Take for instance, I have a client that when he contacted me, originally didn’t believe in what I did, and was doing it to appease his spouse. I began the healing and noticed that when I shared what I was receiving intuitively regarding his medical condition, it caused heart palpitations. It took me learning that he was better off processing his own healing in whatever form that took, versus me sharing what was coming up as I was working on him.

I recently had a client that after three attempts of making an appointment and rescheduling, finally relinquished and fulfilled her appointment. It was a most cathartic healing for her as she quickly realized why she had resisted for so long. As she was on the massage table, she kept commenting on all the physical changes she was feeling and remarked how she was “blown away.”

And yet I had another healing session where the person could feel and see changes as the session was in process. However, the next day, couldn’t relax enough to take in the session just as it was intended. She had her own expectations of how it should be, so I needed to facilitate that “letting go” over the phone the next day. What is most mysterious to me is the information I get and how it varies for each individual. I help people let go of negative feelings, memories, and effects of abuse.

Most recently I had a session that left me mystified. A client called after seeing my brochure elsewhere and scheduled a session. I facilitated some major body work, some became very uncomfortable and as I was doing so I was sharing all the intuitive information I was receiving. A couple days later, she traveled out of state for a few weeks and had had back surgery while she was gone. Upon her return, she made another appointment. This time, I didn’t receive as much information. At the conclusion of the session, she remarked, “I remember that the last session, shortly after laying your hands on me you said ‘You feel broken in half.’ It’s stuck with me.” It turns out that her back surgery was a preventative and she had two steel rods put into her back to prevent her back from essentially, “being broken in half!” Needless to say, I was humbled.

What is wondrous is how the information I get varies by each individual.   How people emotionally process afterwards: some are much calmer and energized, some are emotional and others physically let go, each differs per person per session. It is always a mystery that will unfold as to how much lighter and happier that individual will be after their healing.

Building a Stronger Immune System

People with Down syndrome have compromised immune systems as a result of having the chromosomal structure that they do.(1) After Jack had open heart surgery at 5 months old, our pediatrician at the time recommended that we put Jack on a multivitamin with iron. After having experienced all that we had been through, having Jack survive and recover from open heart left us blinded and accepting all recommendations from physicians.

Being on the multivitamin with iron actually effected Jack and made him constipated. The addition of iron to his daily intake made it difficult for Jack to have easy bowel movements. Not only that, we noticed that he wasn’t any healthier to fight off viruses. We tried different multivitamin formulas with minerals, even though I was of the philosophy that, we should get our vitamins from our diet. Because of his immunodeficiency, I wanted to make sure that Jack was getting the best vitamin absorption. Traditionally, our bodies do not absorb vitamins that are in pill form as we would in powder or liquid form. (2) We absorb 90-98% of vitamins in liquid or powder form, compared to the 3-25% from pill form.

Not only did constipation result from vitamin supplementation, we soon noticed that Jack’s skin on his elbows and knees demonstrated eczema type symptoms and once we discontinued any vitamin supplementation, these symptoms dissipated.

Our insurance for Jack changed and therefore caused us to have to seek out a new pediatrician. In doing so, what we had taken for granted as being prudent recommendations, our new physician made us more aware, enlightened. For example, it had been recommended to us that we put Jack on Miralax, also known as polyethylene glycol, for his constipation at a year old. When we asked what the side effects were, we were told simply, “none.”

Our new pediatrician, although she also wrote us a prescription for the Miralax, soon said to us, “You need to get him off of that.” It wasn’t that she said it, but how she said it that made me wonder why she would have a different recommendation. So of course, I did a web search. What I found astounded me:

“In 2008, the FDA tested eight batches of Miralax because ‘many of the reported adverse events were classic symptoms of ethylene glycol ingestion.’ Ethylene glycol (EG) and diethylene glycol (DEG) are ingredients in antifreeze so, in other words, the government tested the laxative after receiving reports of children exhibiting symptoms of antifreeze poisoning following their use.” (3)

Appalled and wanting a more homeopathic solution, I again visited our chiropractor who happened to have a blend of Chinese herbs mixed in easy to take gel capsule form from Dr. Chi called OxiPower. It actually took a couple days, but it helped Jack go to the bathroom much easier.

Our solution became a mixture of essential oils, Chinese herbs, and energy work.

Quite simply, the mixture of these has kept us from visiting the doctor’s office frequently. In fact, Jack’s constipation issues resolved. His times of being sick, not only shortened in duration, but also got less exacerbated. He now recovers from being sick quite quickly.
